Tips and Variations for Your Shaved Brussels Sprouts Salad
- Choose a Sweet Apple: Opt for a sweeter apple variety like Honeycrisp. Its sweetness complements the other flavors in the salad much better than a tart apple. Remember to dice the apple into small pieces for the best texture.
- Add Cheese: Enhance the salad with freshly grated or shaved pecorino or Parmesan cheese just before serving. The savory cheese adds a delightful depth of flavor.
- Swap the Nuts: If you’re not a fan of pecans, feel free to use other crunchy nuts or seeds. Pine nuts, sunflower seeds, or pepitas are excellent alternatives that offer a similar textural element.
- Shake the Dressing Well: Emulsifying the vinaigrette is key to a well-balanced salad. Vigorously shake or whisk the dressing for about 20 seconds until all ingredients are fully combined. If you’re making the dressing ahead of time, give it another good shake before adding it to the salad.
